although the thought of your wheel overtaking might be entertaning, (and to be honest I found it pretty funny as came to a halt) the shame of going in to the middle of the road to collect a rouge wheel is not so fun especially when you bring a main road to a stand still :dontgetit:


Oh and it is quite dangerous too

which is why i'm not driving it. hopefuly get the new studs and nuts tommrow.

seeming as i'm here too. anyone know how the fudge to take weel bearing out. i've tryed and there some weird rubber thing behine the hub.

just asking. seeming as i got to take the hub off. might as well grease it.

i have just snapped a stud too...

i have discs tho... can someone tell me if i need to remove the whole hub, or can i loosen off the flange and wiggle a new stud in?

you dont need to take the hub off but you will need to remove the disc to take the flange off.

ahh thanks!

can u tell me what tools ill need, do i need to undo the big bugger in the middle, or can i just undo the 4 bolts?

hoping to do this tomoro :s if i can get a stud...

n thats a good point, anywhere i could possibly get a stud from tomoro? lol

you need to take off the big castle nut and the caliper to remove the disc.

Have a look at the FAQ on changing brakes.

It is all in there

i just use a big 300mm adjustable spanner to get the castle nut off.

but my mate always suggests it if its too tight, or doesnt come off easily!

got it all taken apart this morn!

easy as pie with a bit of WD40 of the bolt and a steering lock on a long extension bar as i dont have a breaker bar!

easy as pie, just waiting for the new stud and ill be on the road to get new tyres!

Mini Ron and Big Adam:

Have you found the reason for the snapped studs? If I were you I'd fit a whole new set of wheel studs as it's only a matter of time before the others may snap.
