The only time I have flashed a Bini was when one at a roundabout cut me up
I've had that happen to me! Wasn't happy at all. I put it down to them being a BMW driver.

sorry bmw have no right to call it a mini its not for starters its a hatch!! for seconds they will proberly all be off the road soon because of the amazing invention of an ECU, crash crash crash, and also all of us lot will slate them soo much the owners will realise they own a copy a poor copy at that and never want to show there face again.
sorry if i have ofended ne1 but i feel strongly yes BMW bought the mini name but i dont think they should be alowd to use stuff like , cooper, and park lane!!!!

1. Classic Mini owners don't need to be told to flash each other. It's an automatic reaction (not some German stylie "Ve musst order all Meenee Drivers too be nice to eeeach ozer)
2. All this

Ze flash happens. Eet is not an order mein Herr.

Give over! the MINI isnt trying to be an immitation of the classic, its an EVOLUTION! things move forward
The mini did evolve throughout its 40-year life
Spot the differences below between the.....
2000 Mini cooper 'the last one' and the 1959 Morris mini-minior '1st mini'

It's not evolution ..
Evolution is VW making the new Beetle .. Because VW made the old Beetle, therefore they have evolved that car ..
If Austin made the new MINI, fair enough, that's evolution. But, they didn't ..
Now dont get me wrong, Im completly Oldskool so the new MINI isnt exactly my kind of car but I wont *woman of ill repute* it down as I beleive its a very good car.
As for it not being an evolution because Austin/Morris/Rover hasn't made it....RUBBISH!! They had plenty of time to be update it. Maybe if rover decided to stick a 1.4 K series in the base model Mini and a 1.8 in the Cooper it would have solved there problems. Add a 1.8 turbo for the S with updated suspension, brakes and interior and it would have been a cool little pocket rocket which could have been up aginst the pug 205 and even the Civic type R. Im quite glad they didnt update it to be honest. Just look at the last MGs. What a mess. Nothing more than face lifted Rover base models.
I reckon BMW have done a cracking job. They handle well, go well, even sound nice on the S models and best of all loads of different people drive them. From your average pen pusher to your big pop star.
JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL
Well said, us northantonians must stay together.
Yeah but it's not the original, the original is cooler.
Thats right it`s got holes every were to let the cold in.
We all know that but its still a bloody good car.
One thing that has p1ssed me off about BMW, is that they havn't took it rallying and have relied on the classic cars credentials. Imagine a 2 litre, supercharged 4wd WRC MINI.
There is a BMW mini rally car.

You will be able to say the same thing in 40 years time with the BMW MINI.

I don't count the Bini as a small, practical, cheap car. It's relatively small yes, but not small enough. Its practical yes (OK I concede that one!), and it is most definately NOT cheap. In fact for what you get, it's bloomin expensive!
There is also the question of its use of the Mini name. Personally I don't like the fact it's called a Mini because it doesn't use the values which were built on by the real Mini. I also don't like the idea of these names & manufacturers being bought by the big boys and then solely used for marketing purposes. (not just the Mini, but also things like the Bugatti name)
As good as the Bini may or maynot be, It is NOT a spiritual successor to the Mini. Evolution or not, The Bini should be a BMW0.5 series......

Sorry, but the Mini was sold as a small, practical CHEAP car. Sure there were some limited editions that cost more, and were sold as LE's such as the Paul Smith & Coopers, but the lower trim level ones were always still available.

So what? Are you just sore that you got ripped off even more by paying an extortionate amount for having them put a different colour in the booths for a day while they ran off "limited editions"?

For me the most important point, most car companys give there car prestige by having a rally or race version, and likewise the badge prestige from motorsport, BMW choose to buy a name which already had prestige.
