My BINI is LIMITED EDITION and BMW no longer make it in GOLD.

Pro'lly because someone pointed out to them that Gold Minis were the biggest rot boxes of the lot and it's nothing to aspire to. I think pretty much every mettalic painted Mayfair of the early 80's (like the classic gold ones that the gold MINI was supposed to simulate) turned to dust almost before it was out of the showroom!

Guys, Mini drivers are supposed to be friendly. Flash them and if they flash back, great but if they don't who cares?

If i tried to flash every MINI driver in Ayr id prob get pulled over ! My hand would never be off the full beam ! Must admit i only really flash the old mini's unless the person driving the new Bini is young and female :ermm: Actually quite a few who just have massive smiles when my old mini drives past, they drive new Bini's but atleast the can appreciate a classic :genius: by the way cant really *woman of ill repute* the new Bini's my mum has one but she is the typical middle aged woman who drives them ! Atleast she used to drive an old mini when younger

Well didnt read all the thread, but I just think that the classic Mini is a car with a spirit and history. The Bini is just another modern car

What's disturbing is that the Bini makers are trying to use the spirit of the Mini to sell theyr Bini... :'(

all i get is a scowl whenever i drive past a bmw mini. i think its jealousy. sure the bmw mini is a good car, hell if i had the money i might get one. or not. i just dont think that for 1000 quid you could put a bigger smile on my face whenever i drive my mini. my mini might have holes in, it might make me cold, it might break down, but who cares? its my first car, and i intend on driving a mini for my lifetime, as nothing comes close to the fun of driving it for me. i wont bother flashin bmw mini's, its not worth my time.

But that's the point. If we are so low as to ignore them, then they will too! Thats what We've found in the Porsche club with Boxsters. We have actually converted a few (who we have also found have just bought their hairdressers cars 'because of the badge on the front) to "save the flash" (as it's lamely called on the other side!)

As much as you may dislike the use of the name on such an undeserving car, it's no reason to be rude. (by all means, as you drive past the factory in Munich, give them the finger though!)

There's nowt wrong with flashing them. It just needs doing out of courtesy, not out of "having to". If they ignore you, it's their loss. Not yours! (well, unless the battery decides to give out, or fuse blows at that exact point......)

The MINI factory is in Oxford. That's the only one in the world. The MINI is a British car. It was designed by an Englishman and it's built by Englishmen in England. Sorry if that shakes you all a bit. Just 'because the company is owned by someone else doesn't change that. BMW own Rolls Royce too, are they German cars? Land Rover by Ford, Aston Martin by Ford, Jaguar by Ford, Lotus by the Russian Mafia. Hardly anything is owned within this country now. The biggest 'all British' car company left is London Taxis International. The original Mini was designed by a certain gentleman of Greek desent, is that less English?

I know. :ermm: It's called sarcasm (or irony... I forget! )

I was merely opinting out (in a wierd way) that it's not the Binis fault in itself, but the men behind it who have decided that this particular car should be the Minis spritual successor.

I also know that 99% of cars out there are designed by Englishmen! I'm one of them.....

I dunno who'd be more p-ed off after reading "BMW" and "English" (please put on the capital letter! :w00t: ) in the same sentence. The English or the Bavarians!

I posted a thread on the britishminiclub about how the OLD mini is far superior in HANDLING and EXCITEMENT (which, of course it is!!!!) when I was pissed, n the people there ripped the C**p outta me, even the moderators!!

another quick thingy....

WHY on the adverts for the NEW mini, does the man talking ask 'is your mini authentic?'

This makes no sense, we ALL know which one is more of a headturner! People buy new minis because they are media-sheep. If they wanted a practical car they'd buy a volvo or something.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but why have cars these days got no SOUL!?!?
I'd love to see someone with a new mini be as passionate about their car than someone who owns an old mini, so I could point and laugh. To me, a new mini is an excuse for bmw to make more annual turnover.

I'm very sorry if I've offended anyone who owns a new mini, but if you're honest with yourselves - you know what I'm talking about.. I have a Clio, from last year, which just ISN't as fun to own or drive as my mini (in storage at mo), so I end up never checking on it or anything. My next car is going to be something reasonably old, such as an Audi Quattro (1987) or -non hypocritically- a BMW 850, so fed up of all these modern bubble cars that handle like BOATS!! I love driving, but modern cars have electronics, treacle suspension and many other things that make them feel like shopping trolleys. I will NEVER buy anything made after 2000 EVER again, apart from maybe a Bugatti Veyron!!

Thanks for letting me bend your ears!! Andy :ermm:

sorry, to clarify, the mini's in storage and I will never sell it.

I'm not trying to offend bini drivers

Anyone know where I can get a 998 clubman for about £500 (just to use till I fix up my 1275?)

998 because insurance is rediculous these days!!!
