If they say they can't afford not to charge you rent then ask how they'd get on if you moved out.
Fair enough, thats true. But its always worth speaking to them about it?
Its just my opinion.

I just read most of the comments on here....mostly a waste of time trying to be funny etc nothing constructive and mostly boring.
Give the lad a break being skint isnt fun, and sometimes you have no choice ie leaving a car off the road.
Cant believe nobody could stick it on there drive or even help with repairs maybe even have some old parts laying around....
Shame on you all
No ones stopping you from helping.

Then council tax now and again.
I know she said once that some of the rent is for her pocket as well. I don't know how much of it is, though. I really should ask her for a breakdown of where my rent goes.

In a way, that's sort of how it is. But at the same time, she said she'd have less to pay it if it was just her. Less money, but less to pay out.If they say they can't afford not to charge you rent then ask how they'd get on if you moved out.
I spoke about it a bit when I was applying for the Army.

I try not to delve too deeply into my personal life online, ya know. But always happy to take constructive advice.

Surely this cost should have come in under the tow fee?

"This offer does not affect any separate penalty the police or courts may have imposed for any other offence. If your vehicle is still unlicensed and being used/kept, you must relicense it immediately. If the vehicle is kept off the public road, you should make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) declaration".
[EDIT]It also says:
"This relates to a section 29 (3A) offence of using/keeping a vehicle on a public road and is separate to the fees paid to the Agency's wheel-clamping contractors who impounded the vehicle".

So the suggestion was that the guy borrows a set of road legal tyres to get it through the test, then instead of refitting the illegal tyres whilst he saves up for replacements, puts it up on bricks instead, thereby avoiding potential prosecution for leaving it on the road with illegal tyres. If you know of any legal reason why this is not an viable option, then please do share, otherwise I don't see why it's either a boring, or stupid suggestion.

You obviously not read it all either, the person who said put it on bricks then its not on a public road but private property.

If you're not actually using it, then can't you just take the wheels off and put it up on bricks? Surely you can't then be prosecuted for illegal tyres if you don't actually have any?... And if anybody says anything about it being up on bricks on a public road, your response would be "oh my god, someone's theived my wheels!"
