have a motorsport section... under that you subsections for each formula... and in each one have a pinned topic with the dates for that specific formula?

I'd be happy with just one section for all motorsport related- is interesting reading about other types of motorsport stuff, as it's only some rules and state of tune, set-up that will be wildly different, everyone is in it to go as fast as possible so a lot of info will be helpful to all.

A sub-forum for each type of motorsport would be great, but I don't think we'd get enough traffic for it, and it would be a bit rubbish if you only had 2 threads in each... Maybe that would be a future upgrade?

Certainly the forum needs a motor sports section but does it need a load of sub sections?

My personal opinion is that if you are interested in motor sport you are happy to read about every facet of the game. So, start off with the one section - which will ensure it gets a sufficient number of posts to keep it interesting - and later if the demand is there, add one or more sub sections.

Just my two cents worth.......

If you have subsections please make sure you don't have 'banger racing' as it is a totally different kettle of fish to short oval Motorsport. I can only remember a handful of minis which have been used in bangers in the past 5 years. Where as there have been hundreds in ministox, junior rods, segto and all the other types of racing

Agree....one section to cover mini's in motorsport would be all thats needed at the moment.

Future ideas......

Perhaps sub-sections for build links or videos/photos, or even a calendar of events would also be an idea.

Also there are some experienced members on here that have a wealth of knowledge that could be put in a 'How to start motorsport' section for people who would like a bash but don't know where to start.....even just pinned at the top of the section.

I agree with the above, I think sub-sections will make the section too clunky. I think the purpose of the section should be to get interest in every type of motorsport rather than seperating them all out.

1 calender with all events on will make it easier to compare event dates too. Personally I'm interested in all types of motorsport as I imagine a lot of people are, and would like to go to a range of different events. Being able to compare all of them together would be ideal.

Yep.....mini-mad-dan has hit the nail on the head.....the section should be about ALL mini's in ALL forms of motorsport to gain as much interest as possible

Yeah, I'm good with that. Just wanted to gauge opinions.

At the end of the day we can add sub-sections later if we want.

I'll need to appoint a moderator too.

Depending on responsibilities I don't mind volunteering as a mod. After all, I live breath and eat Motorsport, I'm doing a Motorsport engineering degree, parents business is Motorsport based and its a big hobby of mine too.

I agree that if each sub forum had only 1 or 2 threads then it might appear 'a bit rubbish'..... but when you consider the membership sizes of clubs like Mini7 and the M Minis then, in theory, even just if PART of that membership got involved you would have growing threads AND we would get a focused interest. Lets face it if you race you are interested in other forms of the sport even if its just sharing knowledge, if you are a spectator or just have an interest then dividing it up into say Rally, Circuit Racing, Grasstrack and a catch all of 'Others' keeps it well formatted and tidy. It doesnt have to be down to a series level like 'group N Rally' or Mini Se7en or Mightys just tidy enough to look good and be easier to navigate..... anyways, just my 2p worth

Also the idea about having an about the cars section would mean any potential racer could look through who does what on here and talk directly to them about their formula. Its very daunting turning up to your first race meeting not knowing anyone or what to expect. Getting to talk and possibly meet with someone in the same formula before the day would be very beneficial and make the social aspect of the event much easier to get in to. For instance Sam (summs116) races in the CSCC, if I were a stranger looking to join that formula I could find him from his car specs on here and arrange to meet up at the next event to talk through the finer details of how the days run and the dos and don'ts of that formula.

Oh, and it would be cool to just see the variety of race cars on here all in one place :P

maybe a contact list would be handy.... ie If you race you post your class alongside your Nick on here and invite PMs. This way anyone can go to a list and get info on a specific series from someone they know is willing to help. Keep the ideas comming here.... its now officially a HOT topic
