Today was a big day, Took the woody for a MOT and it passed, The car drove amazing with no problems except for the clutch settling in and started to drag but a re-adjustment has got it working fine again.

Now ready for a couple of local runs to shows to run it in.

Just an update in case you all thought I have been sitting doing nowt, I have got the engine ready which has has a re-bore to +60 thow and new pistons, a reground crank to +10 and a set of hardened valve seats.

Any help on anything that is wrong for a 1963/1964 woody will be helpful as there were a load of parts missing from the motor.

I have had a look on Sommerford Minis site and you are right, the oil filler should be a plastic one but the temperature sender is a bit of a mine field as there are so many types and it has took me a while to match the correct one with the original gauge I think i will leave it where it is. Thank you for your help.

I have done a few miles in the Woody so far and it has been a dream to drive about, i have had Mini magazine up to Sunderland to take some photographs as they are putting it in their Magazine as a feature. To say I am chuffed is an understatement.

Another strange thing happened last week when I got involved in a discussion on facebook about the Countryman and I posted a photograph of my Traveller on the thread, when someone recognised the registration number 651FRX and informed me that he thought my car might have been a "gofor" vehicle for the competitions department at Abington.

The only thing I know is that my registration number is an Abington one and if anyone knows anything about my car and they are willing to share any information It would greatly appreciated.

I do not plan to sell the car as I am going to use and show it during the summer months and as soon as I get some good photographs I will post them

Thank you everyone for all the help and encouragement during the restoration on the car

Vic.

Made it to my first car show today, the car run wonderful but engine was a little hot so I am going to get my spare radiator re-cored and replace it with the one on the car and see how that does. But very happy with the car and the day out we had at Sunderland aircraft and tram museum.

If it wasn't for the old Granada's in the background, that would be a really period style photo

Vic

Good to see that the Woody is going OK, I will come and say hello at Mini Mania.

I must have missed the bit on your engine. My '63 Super Delux had a temp sender in the thermostat housing and black plastic oil cap.

I have a plastic cap but I think the sender on the cylinder head on mine must be the right one as the loom and terminal is standard and will be far too sort to reach the thermostat housing. I think the sender position changed in 63 so mine must have been after the change.

Has your 63 got the full front skirt ? mine has the cut outs at the ends so I put the same back on but I hope I did not make the wrong choice.

Thank you for the picture Surfblue.
