i got the reg of the car which was a brown old renault megane scenic (im fairly certain) but it was on false plates that don't match any car in existence.
I was on the recieving end of a hit and run by a car on fake plates in Birmingham myself recently, it's very common when you can just buy a set of plates for a tenner off ebay with no logbook or anything needed

Awwwwwwwwwww nooooo Maggie!!!!
Glad you got there in time..... but dont leave us
Remember why you have her? remember shes special, remember making your funny woolly dash, remember the smile factor, remember the pilgrims in normal cars, remember your country your people your friends yourrrrrr....
Freedom!!!!!
I've suddenly gone into a Twilight Braveheart world
cheers paddy, i had spent the past couple of weeks having "serious" talks with the misses about getting rid of it for a sensible car now insurance is realistic on any car now im 25.
i was going to wait for the decent weather and hope it made me change my mind but now ive lost all motivation to have anything which others desire. (except for my body ladies)
Mags I promise you'l regret selling her....so sell the misses instead

Or loan her out instead then you can concentrate on your 'male body for hire' service
Seriously....do nothing till summer Mags

Its a shame you didn't manage to grab them. Its a horrible feeling when you get so close to someone you are after but not quite close enough to actually catch them. I know what its like as I have been in a similar situation myself (didn't involve a car).
Hopefully the forensics come back with something. At least as you have seen them, a works colleague has seen them and they left evidence at the scene if the police can find out who it was, you should be able to convict them. They will probably get squat for it and find some way to wriggle out of it but you never know.

I understand that this event has caused you too loose faith, but if you give up they win. You'll sell it and it'll get stolen from the next person. You wouldn't sell your pet labrador because someone tried to steal him. Same thing here, you just take the correct precautions to reduce the risk of it happening again.
Obviously a Mini will never be completely secure but, with your Immobiliser, Alarm system, wire in a couple of kill-switches, and a steering lock like the one linked earlier.
It's unfortunate that this has happened but, giving up should never be an option.

A big improvement is an internal bonnet release & tracker
Glad you spotted it before it was too late!
A decent cat 1 alarm can also text you when any of the doors or windows are opened
And a tracker helps get it back
a motion detected is worth it's weight aswell as they stop it being put onto a low loader!
The above can cost as little as £250 fitted!
I've got drilled front discs for my mini which a standard motorbike disc lock fits onto no problem!
