Keep the Mini (if you have a garage) as a weekend classic car and just get a cheap modern supermini hatch as your daily driver?
Sadly there is no way I would leave my classic Mini parked up unattended on the street or in a multi-story retail car park while I was at work or shopping anymore.

guys it had a thatcham cat 1 alarm and immobilizer, so sensitive cars with loud exhausts or even the wind could upset it enough to set it off.

the bonnet was opened from the inside, they knew exactly what they were doing.

Keep the Mini (if you have a garage) as a weekend classic car and just get a cheap modern supermini hatch as your daily driver?

in an ideal world that would be the goal but i dont have the money to buy another car outright so the mini will provide funds to get something decent.

If you find them press chargers! You say you they know what they where doing and by the sound of it they did they could be the cause of a lt of minis going missing and being shipped to Japan, I wouldn't sell your pride and joy just because a few scums are attempting to steal it, I say tighten up on your security!

Electrify the door handles with a battery electric fencing unit and a car battery. Just make sure to put a warning sign in the window so people don't complain when they get shocked by it :D

Pointless reporting such crimes to Police anymore......a local Taxi driver got 24p compensation for his trouble in reporting a crime to Police and the criminal found guilty of evading the taxi fare was given a two-week suspended sentence:

Birmingham seems to be really bad at the moment. I was working on mine outside this morning and hate when dodgy looking people walk past. Mine is always locked, chained, alarmed AND I have a big dog who sleeps in the garage but it still worries me.

Please don't sell up. The low-lifes that did this will have won. It doesn't help that Minis are easy to break into compared to newer cars but there are plenty of easy ways to render it undriveable. When I was on holiday away from the car I just removed the rotor arm.

You can also easily fir a small cut off valve on the fuel line, next to the fuel filter. Will cost you a couple of quid and it's not something they will be expecting.

Anyway, you could always lend me your mini until you miss it and then you won't have to regret selling up

I have heard stories of people in the Bronx in the 80s who got so sick of having their cars stolen that they fitted switchable t pieces into the fuel line, when switched it fed both the carb and a second line to cover the exhaust manifolds in petrol. not much use if you want your car back but would have been a shock for the thieves! No use for me as I would forget I had done it and be sat there wondering what the BBQ smell was.
