I have managed to get the timing and mixture to a point where it runs/drive as smooth as i can get it, there isn't any flat spots anymore.
But the problem is, i think the carb may need a rebuild because as soon as you turn the engine on fuel start's to piss out of the overflow pipe on the carb. I have came to the conclusion that the problem lies inside the float part of the carb.
I have been reading about the issue i'm having and overflowing of fuel can happen when the float isn't shutting off the fuel supply properly.
The fuel stops dripping out of the overflow after about 10 minutes of it sitting with the engine off.
So should replacing the float, needle valve needle seat in the float bowl of the hif44 solve the problem??
Any help would be great!!

PS Also check the jet isnt blocked, this will be easy once you've opened the float chamber

Can dirt in the jet cause the fuel to overflow the amount it is??
Its more likely to be a dirty/blocked/worn needle valve but still could be, so worth it giving it a quick spray of carb cleaner while you're at

Aha! So this is what is mean't by the float being 'Punctured', thank you very muchCheck the float, the one on my MGB HIF44 was holed and full of petrol, its a common problem along with the needle valve
