Its my first time posting so i would like to say hi well with that done i have a problem and i do hope you guys and gals can help.

first off the car, its a 1982 austin mini 1000 HLE its in need alot of work but its a runner (or was)

so starting her up in the morning i found no engagement of the starter motor but had the click from the solenoid and had power for lights and smaller electrical stuff. so i managed to bump start it. it bumped started first time instantly and off to work i went (didnt have time to collect the battery charger as i was already 10mins late). after work i couldnt start anything but still had the lights on the dashboard for power and so on.

i did some work on the car this summer, replaced the solenoid and battery and checked the output, producing a good 14.7 volts so the alternator was working fine. i checked the battery output and it was down to 6 volts. not sure if its the alternator or other part of the system.

ive taken the battery out and put it on charge.

anyone know where the problem may come from, i believe it may be the starter motor or alternator

any question just ask and ill try reply as best i can

Check the battery connections first, make sure all of the main earths are good and clean. Any sign of corrosion on the connectors and connecting points needs to be removed.

Now if the alternator is producing the correct voltage and the new battery is sound then you have a discharge somewhere so time to break out a multimeter to see where the drain is.
