Thanks for organising the run. We've only had a mini in the family for a couple of weeks so this was the longest trip it has ever made. We were chuffed that it ran perfectly all day. Some of the roads were fantastic. It was also good to see what others have done to their cars. I think Joe is going to start saving so that one day he can go on a run and not have the scruffiest looking car there! Although he didn't feel confident enough to do any driving on the run itself, as soon as we left you lot he asked to stop so we could stick the L plates on and swap places. His confidence in the car and his driving has certainly improved. There have been a few niggly issues with the car since we got it that have been sorted and I think he was chuffed to realise that it wasn't an expensive mistake to get such an old car!

I don't know if I should admit this but years ago my wife and I had a BMW Mini Cooper S. We went on a run and there were about 30 cars. The organisers recommended that everyone get a walkie talkie and we all tuned to the same channel. You can get kids sets for not much money these days that have great range. It was useful and stopped anyone getting lost. It's also a good idea for the lead driver to have a passenger and then they can warn others of potential hazards ahead.

Yeh I think a couple of walkie talkies would be a good idea plus designated lead and last cars. We used to have CB back in the day. Would love to make it a regular thing, any excuse to drive Hatty! Lol

I suggested to james that we have set meeting point that we can just navigate to on a sat nav if we lose everyone cause everyone can get their hanfs on a sat mav even if it is only google on their phone :) but walkie talkies are  a good idea too.

Really enjoyed the run out yesterday, hope I didn't offend any of you with the for sale signs :P

It was a shame that we got split up because the best bit was from Matlock to Bakewell, only us on the roads! Was great to see people smiling and waving as we went through Matlock.

If you organise another one next month and I haven't sold the car yet, count me in :D

Big thanks to James and Kieron for organising

Walkie Talkie idea is good, used a pair when we took my Minis to l2b last year, kept on getting interference though, and truckers telling us to floor it... lol

Regular runs would be great, hopefully should have my Mini back running in a few weeks time

Another rule that seems to work well when I go on runs in my car is that you are responsible for the car behind. So basically, if you look in your mirror and don't see a mini you should slow down or stop until they catch up. In practice this is hard to do as when you stop you see the car you were following go off into the distance as they may not be checking their mirrors!
