Hi everyone,

Just a small question here... I converted my two clock set up to the centre smiths speedo and binnacle, but I'm having trouble mounting the binnacle...

Basically, my heater pipes going through the bulkhead seem to be in the way...

Just wondering if any of you have done this conversion and worked a way around it??

Many thanks,

Iain.

I have just fitted my centre binnacle, had no problems with the heater pipes. Where do yours run? Mine pass through the holes where the clutch and brake m/c would be on a LHD car.

.. which is why the OP (and I) have pipes in the wrong place.

I need to reroute mine; job for a dry day!

As you look at the binnacle, they're on the left hand side

Here's a pic of mine just fitted:

Pipes come in under the lower shelf so are nowhere near the binnacle

Well, never thought of that one!

Later cars, with the 5/8" hoses run through the bulkhead like yours. Earlier cars, with 1/2" hoses run through the cross member as with Craigs car.

Looking at a Mini 30 we have here, it looks like only one hose will get in the way. Is this right? If so, you might be able to make a new hole a little further over and plug the old one.

I re-routed my pipes through the plate on the passenger side bulkhead which covers the holes for LHD master cylinder.

I just notched out the binnacle surround slightly, you cant see it when the vinyl dash jobbies are in place.
