if you are on a narrow road you cannot overtake a single cyclists safely full stop so we ride two abreast to discourage cars from overtaking us dangerously as there isnt the space for them to do so at all

Then why do you not do what horse riders do and stop, move on to the verge and let the motorist pass safely. Do not cause others frustration as this is what causes accidents.
Horses don't have to stop; they choose to. Or rather the riders do. There is absolutely no way it is practical for every cyclist to stop every time a car wants to go past.

A. a horse isnt going over 10mph cyclists go between 15-20mph on flats and bikes don't get spooked or out of control at times if scared
B. if we had to stop every time a car wanted to overtake we would get about 10 miles away from home.
C. if we were to do this would the motorists pay for the brake pads and new wheelset when they wear through?
D. if the road is very narrow and we have had cars behind for a while we will pull over but we wont stop for every one thats a ridiculous idea.

A. You are still going slower than the average car so you should be courteous and let them passed
B. You do not have a god given right to do as you please on the road, if you are hindered by others then accept it.
C. Then will you pay for the brakes and clutch wear and the extra fuel that drivers use as they have to slow and accelerate for you
D. I think riding cycles on narrow roads is a ridiculous idea, as the cars can legally going in excess of 3 time your quoted cycle speed.
A. Rubbish.
B. Exactly, so cars shouldn't try to get past bikes as quickly as they can either, and wait until its safe.
C. Ridiculous comment by both parties.
D. Just because its a speed limit, its not mandatory to do that speed. Which means if you can't see the road ahead, you should be slowing to a speed you can safely or quickly stop. If you can see the hazard, i.e. the cyclist, you should be adjusting your speed. Like you say, everyone has the right to use the road.

Frankly, there are some absolutely ridiculous arguments being put across by car drivers in this thread. You can actually cycle quite far behind a large vehicle such as a bus or lorry and still benefit from the slip stream. Modern bikes can stop very quickly, and if you are off to one side it is extremely unlikely you will crash into the back of the bus.

C. was supposed to be a ridiculous comment to show how petty it could get

Also, if there is a large group, such as 20, it recommends riding two abreast as it cuts the length of the hazard in half, thus meaning you can pas quicker. If you have to pass 20 cyclists in a group, end to end, it will take a lot longer to find a suitable gap and you will be stuck behind them even longer.

I cycle most days to work and back, a 19 mile round trip in London.

I dress from head to toe in hi-viz so I can be seen, even if it makes me look like a twunt.

Bus drivers seem to hate me. It's a battle every day. While some of their behaviour is just because they are idiots, some of it is deliberate I have no doubt.

I get frustrated at cyclists I see, especially early in the morning, in South London when it's still dark, and even foggy dressed all in black. Why would you do that?

It's nonsense to say cyclists don't pay road tax. Of course we do. It isn't just car road tax that pays to upkeep roads, all of our council tax payments do too. As far as I'm concerned I pay my way. Having said that I am insured also.

Dread to think what I would weigh if I didn't cycle!

Then perhaps you should ride in a smaller group so that other road users can pass safely and not get frustrated and which leads them to take risks.

Little angry men that I come across when cycling just make me grin.

I'm probably going to get to work quicker than you

I'm probably going to have a better day than you

I'm probable a lot less stressed than you

I'm probably a lot fitter than you

I've probably got more money than you.

Happy days  :)
