Rule 162:
Before overtaking you should make sure
the road is sufficiently clear ahead
there is a suitable gap in front of the road user you plan to overtake
Rule 163:
Overtake only when it is safe and legal to do so. You should
not get too close to the vehicle you intend to overtake
move quickly past the vehicle you are overtaking, once you have started to overtake. Allow plenty of room. Move back to the left as soon as you can but do not cut in
give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car (see Rules 211-215)
How many car drivers follow that? it doesn't say you should have 400hp and blast past as quickly as you can. If you are overtaking on a bend the chances are you can't see the space you are going into. In which case you should be overtaking.
It's called dangerous driving.

if you are on a narrow road you cannot overtake a single cyclists safely full stop so we ride two abreast to discourage cars from overtaking us dangerously as there isnt the space for them to do so at all
More fool you for that attitude as it isnt the car driver that will come of worse.
You can overtake easily with 400 bhp
I think this statement just backs up the title of this thread.

If you ride in single file the overtaking car does not need to cross onto the oncoming side of the road and is therfore ultimatley safer.
It is irrelivent how I drive or what I drive but you can state what is right and wrong and not take the law into account on a public forum.
I suggest when you have 30 years of roadcraft and driving experience you will know that the number one rule is not to place yourself in a vulnerable position.
It is called defensive riding, taught to be by the police motorcycle trainer

30 years driving experience counts for nothing with an attitude of Just squeeze past and 400 hp. Anyone can ride defensively but with people just squeezing past using all 400hp, there's going to be accidents. 30 years of driving should have taught you give everything the space you should on the road. Squeezing past might be safe for you but not the cyclist. Whatever vehicle you are in, you have a responsibility to not put anyone else in undue danger. Not everyone has had defensive riding and you can't possibly treat them as such.
