Gentlemen you all have valid points being made here but to imply somebody is an idiot then sorry you are stepping over the line. Please keep it polite and on track.

doesn't matter if he has past he can spot an idiot quite cleary
And you have passed your test how many years exactly?
I think this statement just backs up the title of this thread.
More fool you for that attitude as it isnt the car driver that will come of worse.if you are on a narrow road you cannot overtake a single cyclists safely full stop so we ride two abreast to discourage cars from overtaking us dangerously as there isnt the space for them to do so at all
You can overtake easily with 400 bhp
And that makes any difference how?
I understand that you have not passed you UK driving test so therefore your experience of driving a car on the road is zero?

What stupid statements - Like the UK law!!!
It is not me that has admitted riding two abreast where not legal to discourage overtaking- That is putting your own life at risk

I do cycle safely and in accordance with the law apart from one subsection which in practice isnt practical to doNothing Chavvy about meThere is a time and place. I drive safely on the roadIf you ride in single file the overtaking car does not need to cross onto the oncoming side of the road and is therfore ultimatley safer.
It is irrelivent how I drive or what I drive but you can state what is right and wrong and not take the law into account on a public forum.
I suggest when you have 30 years of roadcraft and driving experience you will know that the number one rule is not to place yourself in a vulnerable position.
It is called defensive riding, taught to b
e by the police motorcycle trainer
its does need to cross the line if it is overtaking that statement implies you don't drive safely
sounds as if you drive like a young chav wuth the statements you are making
Sounds like you ride in accordance to the UK law with the statements you are making

Maybe not, but I still understand what is safe driving and what is not.
Squeezing past a cyclist on a bend without leaving enough space just because you have 400 bhp and think you can get past is certainly not safe driving.

Incorrect statement. I can overtake on a dual carrageway with wide lanes without crossing the white line (where bikes should be single file)
I did not state I could overtake anywhere. But I can according to the road markings and when it is safe to do so.

Most of the Highway Code is not actually law. just advisory.

If you are prepared to ride 2 abreast in a situation when you clearly you should not then that is asking for trouble, it just seems some cyclists feel they are above the law.

It is what the insurance companies and courts and coroner quote, "He / she was riding in accordance with the highway code !"
