Perhaps some people start these threads just to ruffle peoples feathers? . Lets face it, there are loads of the MINI/Mini threads on here.
Well done that man

It's a car, just get over it and move on with your life.
Thats the thing - the MINI is just another car. The Mini however, is an icon, and deserves the appreciation it gets.
Now, I went through a BINI phase when they first came out - had had enough of minis - too rough, noisy, breaky, smelly.. so bought a MINI. I wanted to wave to Minis. but it just didn't feel right. and not once did I get a wave from another MINI owner. Most MINI owners aren't that type who care about the heritage and camaraderie that comes with owning a classic car. They car about how they look cruising down the high street! When I realised that, I sold it. and bought another Mini.
Give it 15 - 20 years. Whether people like it or not, as the MINI gets older the following for the car will continue and grow into a 'classic' scene. It will be a future classic. It's not like it's a Kia Picanto - how many forums and car clubs do you see for those for example?

Well butter my arse and call me a kipper......... link
Ha, ha. Well, there you go. I think the point still stands though that a committed owners' movement will exist for the MINI well into the future which will see it viewed by many as a classic.

When the Bingley show was on up the road from me I saw hundreds of modified and cherised Binis heading up there and a handful of proper minis, its already started, I might even take my Bini instead of the City to the next one, Lol

That's all I'm saying it is, I agree it is just another car that is actually different to the Mini. I'm not trying to say it is something special that we should all worship. I'm just saying that people who hate on it just because it doesn't look like a Classic Mini need to grow up and get real.

In an attempt to move the thread away from mud slinging.
Just wondering, with the Bini do the purists prefer the first one rather than the new fat one, or the variants?

I recently purchased a BINI Clubman….yes, one of those odd looking estates with a weird suicide door!
During my test drive a classic Mini Sidewalk rolled up behind me at the junction. I had to switch from classic Mini mode to boring BINI mode of ‘Do not wave’.
For many people their classic Minis are simply weekend cars. For me, it was my everyday car for 10 years! It wasn’t an easy decision to move away from my classic.
Some folk still don’t like my Multi-point injected Rover Minis. My daily driver for the last 7 years has been my ’97 Mpi, great cars in my opinion. The market values of these models are starting to increase. Times change!
My 2000 supercharged Cooper Sport wasn’t a classic! It looked old but an early R50 BINI is 2001/2002. Depending on who you talk to, a 14 year old car is way back in time to the beginning of the millennium!
Why did I dislike MINIs? Because it was a BINI….that classic Mini attitude!
I used to prefer the R53’s, smaller and nicer headlights. Since I purchased a 2007 Clubby my opinion has changed! One week into BINI ownership and my ’97 Mpi is still my daily driver!
My new (to me) BINI...
Which is better? My Classic Mini or my BINI? I know which one I prefer!!!
Would I wave? Yes. It’s only a car at the end of day. A classic Mini can take over your life!
Yes, it's doesn't look like a classic Clubman estate (even using the name!), stupid doors...but it's quite fast!

If your daily is still your classic why do you need the Bini?
Or did it not go to plan?
The MOT on my '97 daily driver expires next month. It's been a great car but requirements change.
I like my classic too much! I just need to contact the insurance and switch over....give it another day or two!

The problem is you're fixating on people now wanting them part of the scene not liking them!
I like it it's a good car a clever marketing exercise too! But it's just a car... A mini is more that that.. It has genuine Motorsport heritage that any manufacturer would be jelouse of! Money can't buy that even if BMW tried!
It is possible to buy an aftermarket modified part for every inch of a mini... You can't say that about a bini!
Err yes you can!, I think maybe you need to start looking on the other mini forums, modified absolutley everything is available, just like classic Minis its really hard to make a Bini unique these days! I cant think of a Bini part that hasnt been produced by an aftermarket company either for looks or performance?
From one of hundreds of parts companies, I think the classic mini brigade need to catch up if they think its all about lowering and self adhesive stickers from ebay, cams, lightened pulleys, different superchargers etc its all out there!http://www.performan...olutions.co.uk/
