Mine did that, it was a dry joint on the PCB not sensing something or other, it would heat and heat and heat then lock out rather than heating for a bit, then circulating, then heating, then circulating

Mine did that, it was a dry joint on the PCB not sensing something or other, it would heat and heat and heat then lock out rather than heating for a bit, then circulating, then heating, then circulating

It isnt a combi boiler.

Thats the one in my other link! OK that big platic nut comes out to reveal the impeller bolt head.

I might give the old percussive maintenance a try tomorrow. If I can free it off and it works I will know 100% its the pump but from the symptoms I am 99% sure it is. It got SERIOUSLY hot earlier and the connecting pipes were Luke warm.

top man! Any suggestions on a replacement? What do I need to check/ measure to know which I would need? I gather the standard size is 130mm but I haven't checked this one.

So if I turn that bolt head clockwise it should turn easily?

No that bolt head is just a plug, remove it and the end of the impeller is behind it, that's what you need to turn, probably with an Allen key. Switch it off first then turn it and switch it back on.

will give it a go but it didn't want to come out when I tried last night. Will have a go and report back.
