Well, after a road test, the AAA needle has helped to an extent. It's still set rich at tickover, but the plug tips are now light grey rather than porcelain white. It's much gutsier too :)
There's now some Redex in the tank, so I'm assuming this would make the plugs cleaner than usual anyway.
Is it worth seeing how it does with an AAU? Or would that be way too far off? Given how much city traffic I sit in as well as faster roads, it would be best to have it not too rich at tickover or it'll foul the plugs up.
I'm surprised that the exhaust pipe on its own causes such a massive difference.
