Easier said Tha done lol! Spent 5k on it in the last 2 years and I need a house deposit hehe

I don't think that there is anything in the book of rules that says you have to get back the money you spent into a car, but good luck.

My mother once said something about throwing good money after bad.

you dont need to have any on the exhaust valves, there is no way oil will creep down the valve stem, if the valve stem is not worn it wont go down, if the valve stem is worn the exhaust gasses would push any oil up.

Except when off the throttle, then it'll smoke until you get back on it.

Replace all 8.

Length of rope in the cylinder and bring engine to TDC, use compressor and bingo.

Personally, i would take the head off, do it properly and lap the valves. Do you have any engineers blue?

I completely agree, the time it takes to remove the head will be saved by the relative ease of changing them on a bench

If you have the valve took which I have and its just the seals you want to change then yes its a job you can do quickly or with the old boys rope trick, buy agree if its in need of valve work then better to whip it off.

You've not put in too much oil have you? Would make it smoke. 4.8L but less if you didn't change the filter.

Off with his head!  Why do half a job twice? Lapping the valves in isn't a huge job and will 'crispen' things up, new valve stem seals and you know your head is sealed up and eliminating those areas from your troubles.

This.

I've spent over $5k in the last 6 months on mine, when I had it for sale recently, I was asking what I'd paid for it, $4500, a huge loss.

You don't build cars to make money on them ;)

Hmmmm yes quite - moreover despite the advice given the OP doesn't really want to follow any of it.

The new purchaser can be made aware of the condition and the price adjusted accordingly.

Done, finished - let the new owner do the work himself rather than the OP attempt to cure it with just half a job.

When the head gasket went originally did the engine overheat ? If so maybe the rings are stuck.
