! Does it have to be driven or can it just be revved on the drive (not insured at the minute u see) spose I can drive it round the farm??

 

As stated above, give it some beans on the road, not revving the tits off it . If your not insured, can you get it to a garage on a truck and let them drive it?

The mini is not insured at all but I'm insured to drive third party through my insurance does that still count? I didn't think it did? Might get a quote at lunch just seems a waste to insure it for one day or so?

You cannot drive it on 3rd party extension unless the Mini is insured.

Hi mate, me and my dad are having a look at the valve seals this evening so should hopefully fix if not I would really appreciate that! Are u sure that would be ok?

Side note I have insured the old girl so she is now road legal but didn't get an opportunity to drive it last night!

Just one more question how many valve seals should I replace I have 8 that ive bought but I read everywhere that you should use 4 but some people say 8 maybe I should do 6? ;)

8 Valves, 8 seals. Change the lot.

you dont need to have any on the exhaust valves, there is no way oil will creep down the valve stem, if the valve stem is not worn it wont go down, if the valve stem is worn the exhaust gasses would push any oil up.

Surely that would be the same for the inlet too? If gasses are escaping, thats not good.

A compression test may tell if it is the rings although it depends if it is the oil crontrol ring that has worn. I still think you should take if for a decent run and get the emmisions checked at a garage........

Took the old girl for a good drive and she's no different! Gonna do the valve seals this weekend I keep running put of time!

Just sell it as is, be honest and adjust the price - pointless doing the seals if the bores/guides/stems are worn.
