I wonder if they salvaged the 12v dash top blower that i had to fit when the damn heater packed up? lol
I really quite like that silver one that Lotus did. That would be entertaining to drive i bet

You can in a Nissan,
It's harder in a Lada,
And you can't in a Trabant!

They didn't mention the Moscovich which was a Ruskie built car of the 60's & 70's.
I recall a trio of them being entered on the Avon Motor Tour of Britain in 1973. A friend of mine was driving one and rolled it. Best thing to do to it as well!

WHY OH WHY OH WHY (rant alert) do they produce a programme about classic cars and then feel the need to destroy one at the end.... tonight a low mileage, fully working - and apparently more practical than a brand new Range Rover - Lada Riva.
In the trailer, a 2CV and a Renault 4 get shot at. All decent cars which no doubt will stand the test of time longer than the Top Gear franchise.
It's cheap, it's unnecessary, and it doesn't make sense. Does Antiques Roadshow chuck Chinese porcelain out of helicopters into the sea? No, because it's stupid.
It's pretty funny for the masses!
I don't like destroying anything rare or interesting. The Lada was no biggie though. Hardly a classic - I think he said it's from 1999? I guess it would be the equivalent to smashing up a V reg Mondeo over here.
Can i have first option on destroying a Mondeo, i have a pure hatred for them......

I remember watching the late Tony Lanfranchi race his Moskvich 412, reg number JPH 968K in production saloon car racing at Brands Hatch, Tony won 28 out of 29 Class wins during 1972 and the title of Britax Production Saloon car champion of 1972.

According to Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada
"After Lada (UK) ceased operations in 1997, the remains of the British network of Lada dealers were serviced by Lada (France). Ladas rapidly disappeared from British roads. They had minimal second-hand value in the UK and a re-export market for Russia moved many UK- and Irish-registered Ladas back to Russia (especially by Russian trawlermen), to be stripped for spare parts or to be sold to Russian buyers. They appreciated the export cars built to better specification than the local version. Many Ladas returned to Russia by ship through Latvia and Lithuania where enterprising mechanics switched the right hand drive to the left side for about USD 500-600 and then shipped them back to Russia for second-hand resale."

they did get a few things incorrect, the main and most important who actually invented the "beetle" because its wildly accepted that it was actually Josef Ganz who debuted his "mae kafer" in early 1933, which Hitler saw and made some sketches.
Before Porsche even had the designs on paper Ganz actually had a fully working car on the road with the engine in the rear (albeit not aircooled), swing axle rear suspension, torsion leave front suspension and a central chassis rib with floorpans each side. He said it would be a "car for the people"

I fully expect the 'Ford found out that BMC lost money on every Mini made' story to come rolling out too at some point, if it hasn't already. Again not technically true.
