The races on TG are not staged.. They are planned to be close and there is no script for who comes first..

The race on last night was clearly staged as you couldn't have the Honda loose at a delivery to Honda

OK, I'll rephrase that.

The Top Gear "races" that I (or some of my ex-colleagues) had any involvement with have been staged.  That better?

Really enjoyed the first episode (with the exception of the needless destruction), but last night's episode was mostly nonsense.  The historical bits are interesting, but too much of last night's episode was dedicated to Top Gear type sh#t; the teenager driving a microcar, the wanton destruction of cars again, the over long race, all took up what seemed like the majority of the hour.  Very poor last night.

I'm looking forward to the new Quentin Wilson & Jodie Kidd show, even if it'll concentrate on cars I'll never be able to afford.

Looking at the website a white mini can be seen in the background of one of the publicity shots

Just had a look at the trailer and a mini looks like part of the series. Broadcasting is from January 2015, so bit of a wait

The first episode was quite good, but last night's was just boring, and I think they put the shooting in there to try and liven it up a bit, which it didn't.

Can't see how anyone could be entertained by that to be honest.

ooohhhh, don't start saying you don't like stuff! It will get you into trouble ;-)

It wasn't brilliant but I really enjoyed it, but then it could be down to my weird obsession with strange cars. I would love most of the microcars on last night and have been looking for a Mazda R360 this morning, rare things it seems.

The only Mazda R360 I can find sold for $10k in the states a few years back. I would also love a Peel as well, but then I like Trabants and Moskovitchs so I must be mad.

I've always wanted an early 2 CV too! I know how God awful they are, but my late uncle had a few of them and they remind me of him whenever I see one!

I have the website:

Just need to find the Japanese characters for Mazda r360 and where they are on my iPad keyboard (seems strangely lacking in Japanese characters, which seems a bit of an omission by Apple I have to say)

Last nights episode of James Mays... was a bit crap. Again some nice rare cars and some good facts, but trashing a couple of drab olive painted cars with a machine gun was a waste of 5 minutes. I would have preferred a bit more on the history of Honda, including the Z and S600 cars.

Next week I guess we will have a bit on the Mini and on the demise of the British motor industry and how those running it got it all wrong (again). I wonder if Rolls Royce loving James May will be able to bring himself to destroy an old Silver Shadow in the interests of family entertainment, I know I could.

I feel you maybe disappointed with this new show. My guess is they are looking for a broadcaster to show it and it will probably end up on Discovery or National Geographic.

Also here's an edited quote from the web site

Other celebrity contributions come from Tinie Tempah, Daisy Lowe, Graham Norton, Jessie J, Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon and Peter Jones...

...The Classic Car Show will provide an entertaining, visually compelling, peak-time TV series, produced not just for those who can tell a Ferrari 250 GTO from a 275 GTB, but for the whole family, encompassing humour, attitude and heart-warming charm...

...The Classic Car Show is produced by Jim Wiseman and Stephanie Fox – who have backgrounds in Top Gear and Top Gear Live – and the format brings a truly global magazine perspective to viewers.

Of those "celebrities" listed only Steve Coogan is what you would call a true car enthusiast, not just someone who buys expensive car because they can. And the producers are ex Top Gear, oh and the male presenter.

If you use google chrome and the press the translate this page option you should get on just fine. I use this when looking at Japanese Mini sites.

Or try this in a search engine (I used google translate to get this)

マツダR360

You might also like to try this site, it's a Japanese auction site powered by Ebay.

There's a peel p50 shell on ebay for £400 at the moment

Really loved that Mazda R360 though!!! :o It just looked so perfect! Like a mini lotus elan lol

But I don't really care if it was staged. If James May asked the BBC to air his programme which has nothing but pure facts, they'd tell him to shove it and try it on the history channel? So I'd rather watch this, and him destroy 3 classics than be stuck with dancing on ice or all star mr and mrs drivel.

Be more interested in Manlab coming back on though!
