Whatever the outcome, the Mini's got to be up there, if only because everyone from bin men to rock stars have owned them. It is truly a classless vehicle, which makes it a car of the people. I can't think of a single other car that crosses that kind of spectrum and has such mass appeal.

Well that was a load of old tripe.
I found that each episode got worse.
And did i hear right when he said the bond bug had it's engine in the back?
I like James May alot but most of this material was just pointless and then he disappointed by saying that every car is a car of the people.
I just felt it was all a bit confused.

A Rolls Royce Shadow is more a car of the people than a mini - something not quite right there!
The Golf though is the modern car for everyone, I do tend to agree with that viewpoint having ran our previous Mk4 Tdi for 11 years and I sometimes wish we had bought the Mk7 rather than the admittedly excellent Tiguan!

I remember Quentin Willson (remember him??) did something like this a few years back. I remember it was really good - apart from throwing in a Jensen Interceptor as a people's classic. He did a book to go with it which I've got somewhere. Where is he these days when he's not flogging car warranties?

He's flogging car shampoo on the shopping channels :-(. I sat in his Janspeed Nissan once. In Salisbury. That's all there is to that story.

Oh yeah. And that Chris Goffey, who was the dad of the bloke from Supergrass. He was the James May of the early 90s. I actually have a claim to fame with Top Gear but mentioning it here will just seem like a total, huge brag, so I won't
