I do wonder that, but the problem is that people see these things that have "sold" for that price, then think their old windows must be worth the same.
Looking at the Facebook For Sale groups there are, some of the prices people are asking is just ludicrous. There was a "full leather" set of badly retrimmed leather seats on there the other day and the guy was asking £600 for them.
It just beggars belief what's happening on this scene at the moment.
There was a "1972 Mk3" for sale the other day (which did look really tidy), but was a reshelled and painted 1990s shell (MPI) with a big end knock and the guy was asking £7000.
I know I'm ranting, but this is just getting ridiculous. If there's one thing that's going to ruin the scene and keep the cars from being kept on the road, it's the extortionate pricing of readily available second hand parts!
That MK3 is listed on here I think, i also seen it and laughed a little before turning off facebook.

There was one particular trade stand at IMM that caught my eye.
They had loads of plastic boxes laid out on the ground, each filled with used bits and pieces. There was some really good stuff there and the sign said Every item £1 each! Bargain.
I only wish i hadn't left my wallet in the car. although i didn't have much money in it, there were some bits that caught my eye that i would have bought.
Ben
This was the only place I spent my cash at the imm! £60 on mk1 bits! Chatting to the bloke that was running it he was from Europe so he was selling at what he thought it was worth. The same parts that I had got was for sale on the uk run stands for 20 times more! It seems to be the trend now a days. One stand quoted £120 for a really shabby turbo carb! When I said it's not worth that much, he replied with "people pay that much now a days!!" So I walked away.
Simon.

Another eBay example for you.
My dad has a classic Ford tractor. We bought a stop cable for it which was £20 from a trade seller. In the end we didn't need it and but it back on eBay and it sold for £150?!?! We were both gob smacked

But It had a rod change box, A+ engine, MPI door bars, tower bolt front subby, side repeaters, fog light...The only thing 72 spec on the car was the VIN plate.
When I started to ask what was involved with making it 72 spec he saw his arse and went off on one asking why I was picking faults with it.

It genuinely looked nice and was listed as rebuilt to 72 spec... also with "Cooper S gearbox".

I saw that.
It looked to me like an MPi with a 72 logbook and a slightly earlier engine with some period parts.
To be fair though, it was a cracking looking Mini but I can't quite see how it can be worth 7 grand..

might be able to help you on that one, a friend of my mums has a pile of of NOS stereos from the 80s through to the 90s. Its a long story but her late husband was a hoarder and just kept buying them but never used them. She is gradually clearing stuff but let me know if you are interested and I will get my mum to check if she still has them.If it sells for a tenner it was worth a tenner, that does not mean it will sell for that much next time or it could sell for more, that is the true meaning of the market value.
