Hi;

I am just about to finish working on my Boot area but before I paint it up I was thinking about re-routing the Battery Cable through the Interior. The main reason for doing this is that I spotted the shroud under my Mini and its a real rust trap.

Couple of questions:

Found this post which talks about what rating of cable, seems to suggest that 300 Amp Cable is required, the link for supply here says this stuff is over £5.60 per metre.

Can anyone answer the following:

1. Is 300 Amp is required.

2. How much do I need to run from the Engine through the Bulkhead along the centre column or drivers side door step, thorugh the Cross Member under the Rear Seat and into the boot to the battery?

3. Where is the best place to come through the Bulk Head, do I need a new hole, if so where would be best?

If it makes any difference I have a 1982 Austin HLE 1000.

Many thanks

1.Yes - smaller cable has volt drop as covered in the article, cheap battery cable is a waste of money

2.Measure the route with string unless someone has already done it

3.Right side is nearer where you need the main battery lead

I bought this http://www.ebay.co.u...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

£35 for 5 metres, which should be enough.
