Cheers guys.
Mart, I think it will still be a couple of weeks before its actually on the road. I've got a few bits and pieces I need to order from minispares still, need to try to cover the dash and I need to take the carbs off again because the left hand one pisses fuel out when you turn the engine off. Tomorrow I should get the doors bolted on though. David, the wheel and gearknob are going - just leaving them in there so I don't get the good ones covered in oily handprints... Tom, the console wont be going in - I think it looks better without it, and I've got the nice big mk1 door pockets to throw my stuff in so I dont really need it. I think I'm just going to make a pod now for the choke cable, fog and hazard switches on the right hand side to cover the hole where the mpi fusebox came through the carpet.

Yeah, I know. Theres still a week or so's work till I get it done, then I need the carbs and suspension setting up as well. Got the doors bolted on tonight:

They dont quite sit flush at the back, but thats because the new door seal is holding them out a bit.

Wow! never knew this project had come so far! It's looking excellent! Is the front panel all fibreglass? Sorry if it says somewhere on the thread, I couldn't see it!

The whole front end is steel. The only fibreglass bits are the rear door and dash. :P

Nah, the nugget I bought it off had welded the front of all the seams. It was all new panels though so we just strengthened it up and left it as it was. When its locked down its the most solid flip front I've ever come across.

Cheers!

Altered the fit of the passenger door where it had been rubbing on the body a bit, so that fits a lot better now. Took the carbs off, tinkered with them, put em back on and it seemed to run much better. It still seems to have a nasty habit of spurting fuel out the overflow on the left hand carb when you turn it off. Any ideas? Also got my black steering wheel in - the horn buttons wouldnt work in it, turned out some rover numpty had put the pins in the connector in wrong, so I cut the one off my other wheel and soldered it in, job done. And for our final trick - took the gauges out of the dash and with a full team effort (me, mum and dad) working on it, we got it clad in leather. Tomorrow I'll cut all the holes out of it with a stanley knife and build it all back up.

Cheers Pie and Jack. Got it all cut out today, clocks refitted and wired up again, put two rivnuts in the dash rails and bolted it in:

And David, is that steering wheel and gearknob more to your liking? >_<

Cut the holes in my door pockets for the 4" speakers as well, and fitted the door stay on that side. For some reason it was fouling on the body so I adjusted it with the aid of a BFH and gas pliers :)
