Hello!

I was taking apart my dash board when I noticed a couple of spare electrical connectors that I'd like your help to identify if possible...

  • 1995 rover mini
  • basic, felt dash board
  • no stereo
  • speedo is behind the steering wheel

photos are attached. (forgive any incorrect names/jargon - I'm not sure how to call these connectors)

1) multi connector with 3 wires - brown, black, white going into the back. It comes from the loom on the LHS near to the air vent in the dash board.

2) small single pin connector coming from underneath the speedo box

Any ideas what they are for?

It's not related to a current problem, but I'm curious to see what they are because I'm considering installing a stereo some day and wondered if these could be used...

Thanks

Stu

Not sure what the left hand side multi plug is for but am sure the right hand side single connector is for a Rev counter

The single pin connector is for the Rev counter, you'll also have a female spade connector behind there. The plug on the left hand side is either an unused upgrade for foreign cars or something for the alarm box (or both). It's redundant on my car too.

The fancier models with a walnut dash you got a clock above the radio too, could it be for that?

cheers guys.

yes it's on a black'n'white wire for the tachometer - might install one some day as that would be handy.

the left-hand multi connector has permanent live, so it could be a good shout it being for a clock.

Richie - did yours come with a radio? if so and your connector is redundant then i can rule that theory out.

The radio is up at the top rather than down above the passengers knees too if you have a factory dash, good old rover probably installed radio wires in both positions!
