Hi guys

I got this mini from a friend about a year ago with the idea of using it as a donor for my z cars vtec project. I since then I have extended my garage to 30ft to give me room for the projects but have now decided just to do a standard restoration to the mini city and go all new parts for the z cars build.

This thread is going to be solely about my restoration etc. so this is the mini. One lady owner from new with 27k miles on the clock, then bought by her mechanics (my mate) who was going to restore it but ended up sat on the drive for 5 years until I took it off his hands.

So let's get started I guess.

So today I spent the day getting off all the bolt on exterior and interior parts. Just ordered an engine lift to get that out later this week to strip it down to start working on but all in all a productive day prepping.

So engines out, doors are off and garage and parts tidied. All major replacement parts ordered from mini spares, just waiting for them to arrive so I can start on the body work and panel replacement.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. Just had a delivery today so excited to get cracking on the restoration. The wheels are for my z cars mini project and not this restoration.

So, more progress made this weekend removing the front panels and starting to cut up repair pieces ready to weld, the subframe looks to have recently been replaced as looks new since cleaning it up.

Ok, kind of forgot about my thread, since the last post lots has happened. I'm now a dad for one thing.... But still the mini has progressed well, I'll drip feed to build up to date over next few days..

Firstly I managed to finish the body panel replacement mainly before sending it to a mate to put the front end on and give it a coat of paint.

Here's the mini going off to have the front end I took off another shell I'm using for a z cars project. Fitted a treat inside the car and when it was welded back onto its rightful place!
