Oddly didnt get a letter today despite knowing plenty of people who did and mine is one that needs fixing.
2.0l engines are getting a software fix and the 1.6 will be getting a hardware fix.

Why bother getting the 'fix' if the car is going well, is reasonably economical and drives as it was advertised to do? Be assured, it won't go any better after any sort of fix.

I can see people with DPFs removed and who've had their cars remapped not getting their cars "fixed"
The OEM software will most likely lose the map, and in the case of cars with no DPF cause big issues.
People are talking about the 1.6 engine needing new injectors. We'll see how it all pans out. My 1.6 is rubbish on fuel, it's quite fun to drive, but you've got to rev it like a petrol engine making the fuel economy even worse.

I won't be getting mine 'fixed' if I can avoid it. I'm happy with the performance and the consumption figures I get and I doubt they'll improve!
It had the wrong emissions for 5 years so its not going to kill the planet from now on.

I have a plan.
I'm getting rid of the car in January anyway.........

I did think that but its been quoted twice now plus that info is in the windscreen of the van anyway, it doesn't have my address on it either.I can confirm this is not restricted to the 2.0 only as was first suggested. My Caddy is a 1.6.
You might want to scrub out your chassis number and reg, not that it's particular worth cloning a vw at the moment....

3 times now
Seriously, I'm sure the quotes will be using the same hyperlink, so if you change what it's linking to it'll change for all. There was probably less to worry about before anyone typed VW, registration, and chassis number though

They are now looking at increasing the tax (RFL) on the affected vehicles
as with the fix they will be put into a higher co2 bracket , due to higher c02 emissions
second paragraph from bottom - http://www.theguardi...k-cars-affected
thought that would happen , as well as lower mpg

I think it's time they did away with RFL anyway
just put 10p on a litre , fairer way to do it
vw prices will be affected for a year or 2 - then all will be forgotten
loads of other cars are going to get caught up in this anyway
wonder what cheats have been used on petrols in the past ?
