What Get's My Goat:
People who drive in the dark with their headlamps and front fog lights on when it's not foggy or wet. I thought driving with fog lamps on when it is not foggy or when driving conditions were poor due to heavy rain etc was an offence; the number of cars I meet each day on my way to and from work with front fog lights blinding every car they meet is astonishing.
Also just followed home a Peugeot 2008 with what appears to be the smallest rear indicator lights I have ever seen on a car, Tiny even when compared to a mk4 Mini. Then got curious and started to look at other cars and seems to be the modern trend for rear lighting clusters to get smaller, what's this about? surely the smaller the indicator or side/brake light lense the harder it is for cars following to see?
One final thing before I get back under my stone, what is the deal with one reversing light on many cars now. I know one rear fog guard light was all the go when this legislation was introduced in the early 80's, but one reversing light. Again the lense size for most reversing lights are getting smaller to; followed an expensive looking Audi home and the slot for the reversing light to shine through was only about 2"x1.5" With only one light must be totally inefficient at helping anyone reverse and actually see where they are going!!
I live out in the country, no street lighting and have 2 big reversing lights on my daily driver (Xsara Picasso) great for reversing round the yard. Without a decent reversing light It's really hard to navigate out in the sticks. My wife and I recently went out to buy a new car and we were met with the curse of one reversing light. I asked the sales representative why there was only one reversing light and was advised that cars have always had one reversing light to which I directed him to my Mini Thirty which was parked outside which proudly has two; and most useful they are too.
That's my rant over; heading back to my stone...
