Hello again Mini-peeps, it`s meeeeeeeeee-ee. Thought I`d have a go at the 1380 started today as it is such a lovely day. I set piston 1 at tdc on the comp stroke and moved the dizzy so that the rotor was pointing at plug lead 1 to give me a reference as there are no timing marks on my crankshaft pulley. I reconnected a wire that had pulled out of its end-piece and squirted some easy start down the carb. Gave him a boost from my daily car, turned the engine over and......................BANG! out of the exhaust (the easy start) followed by silence. I cranked him again but there was a marked reluctance to do anything. I have attached some pics which are not too good as there is so much other stuff in the way, but can any of you electrically minded types see what, if any, mistake I have made? I wired it in the same way that I dismantled it from the 1275, the only difference being that the Powerspark dizzy has "2" wires whereas the Lucas jobbie had just 1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The black Powerspark wire goes to coil (-).  The red wire goes to a switched 12V supply.  If your coil is a "standard", 3 Ohm, non-ballast type, this connection can be on coil (+).  Otherwise, the red wire needs to connect to a white wire circuit on the fuse box.

Your pictures are nice and clear but they are zoomed in too much to be helpful.  You said you did an eyeball timing to get the engine started.  The plug wires look brand new.  Don't take offense at the following question.  However, when you fit these new plug wires did you get them on in the following order:  1-3-4-2 COUNTERCLOCKWISE around the dizzy cap with cylinder #1 being the water pump end of the engine?

Oh bugger, yes the new HT are connected 1342 but clockwise!! I had wondered about that. I`ll reset them tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for that, it`s a start. Watch this space, I`ll be back  :shy:
