Hi team.

New to the forum, so, Hello.

I have been cleaning out a shed at home and rediscovered our mini. I am trying to find out some information about it. It's not in the best way but has all the necessary bits.

I would like to find out what year and model it is etc.

However I don't have much information.

The VIN I have seems to be

XNDAB18PB28033xxx

This however doesn't correlate to anything I can find regarding mini VINs. Excuse my ignorance but can VINs be changed? It is only a plate after all?

It is also not in the correct position according to the manual.

I have looked here and as many other places as I can

The other number I have is from where the commission number is meant to be. This also doesn't correlate.

AH 0043

Is it that something untoward may be going on here?

The car says anniversary on the front but doesn't seem to line up with anything I can find.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Also here is the number on the engine 99H791PZ 422815

The car apparently was first registered in New Zealand in 1980

Thank you so much for your time.

Regards Thomas

It reassembles a late, after 1990, vin ( please remove some of the last digits for your own safety.
Wich would mean this vin doesnt belong to the car,as it would've been registered long before they started using the XN format.

The vin itself doesnt seem to make any sense and looks like its made up by someone...

Hi Dusky

Thank you for your speedy reply.

Turns out I may have made the wrong assumption. I just presumed it was imported.

I have just found a picture of a simlar one and the comments suggest it is a 1981, or near, Leyland mini? What ever that is?

They were built to celebrate 20 years of minis being built in New Zealand. No idea they even did this.

Thank you also for the heads up re VIN.

Regards Thomas
