Curious.

 

Here's an A+ Block front end. There's a cast lug that drilled and tapped for that bolt

Yep the 1275 A+ I have been working on. Both the original and the replacement had the floating bolt.

Chris where was yours cast?

I have to say I was slightly thrown by this floater as the old As did not have it

I have to say I was slightly thrown by this floater as the old As did not have it

 

UK - same foundry that yours came from - but has also thrown me too.

 

Yes, the A's didn't have that lug

Difference in Aussie block?
The 1275 in my red car is nut and bolt A+ but the 850 in my clubbie A series has a threaded lug.
Were there different suppliers of castings at one time?
