This is a great project. I'm enjoying following it.

When I was younger, my first car choice was between a Mini and a Golf (a MK1). I picked the rustier if the two.....

Rubbed engine bay back down for a few more coats of paint, no runs this time so I'm pretty happy. I've also started filler/body prep, still a long way to go.

 

Engine bay prepped and spot primed.

More paint.

De masked.

Starting to get there now, slow progress but progress.

 

Painted inside rain tray, first more primer.

 

Applied 3 coats of colour. This was a nightmare to get in with the gun.

 

Prepped some parts ready for paint and reassembly.

 

Parts painted in black gloss vht epoxy.

Done some filler work and lots of prep to passenger side.

 

2K filler primed.

Been carrying on with bodywork, lots of time and patience which I lack to be honest. Drivers side ready for more epoxy primer then 2k filler primer. I cannot believe how many small dents impressions in the metal I've found, hopefully filler primer will help level it all out.

Cookie this is fabulous work. I learned to drive in a Mk2 Golf and passed my test in it. Looks like you found a good one and are making it amazing. Cracking work!

Thanks Mr bounce just trying to make the golf the best I can. There still great daily classics with the bonus of being a great for the family days out.

Not updated this project In a while so thought It was about time I did. 

 

First pics, spray some paint on passenger side, this will be flatted and then final coats applied.

 

Front subframe build up.

 

Fitted to shell.

 

Cleaning blasting and painting front end parts.

Had a load more parts blasted and powder coated.

 

Managed to pick up some half decent seats.
