Some good news today. I found a decal shop that can remove the black from my sunroof and replace it with perforated white wrap.

I managed to get an hour and a bit in the workshop before work today.   I took my backing plates, rear hubs and handbrake brackets out of the vinegar bath.   I gave them a blast in my sandblasting cabinet and then finished them off with a wire brush.   Got a coat of paint on them before having to stop to go to work.   Took some inspiration photos to see which set up I prefer, twin HS2s or a Twin throat Solex.   Which do you think?

I have the white perforated stuff on my sunroof, I hate it. It's too bright on sunny days - I have to wear a ball cap so I can see...

Anyone who's ever done any work on their Mini has days like that, we can all relate. Today I dropped and broke a glass front turn signal lens, not a big deal unless it's for an Innocenti and almost unobtainable - and this one was brand new too!

I normally prefer the SU's, but a single carb has it benefits too. If the Solex is sized and jetted right for your engine I might give it a go. At least it will be different....

I’m a little worried about the sun protection too. Living in Queensland we have sunshine nearly everyday. When I bought the solex carb it was advertised as being previously set up on a hot 1098.

Those air filters look great!

They are ramflo filters. I just need to replace the filter elements. Good thing is they give plenty of clearance for stub stacks.

I have some early steel cases filters that came with some H4 carbs, they look great but are completely unserviceable

Grabbed a few hours in the workshop over the weekend.   I managed to sandblast up my radius arms and give them a coat of paint and the rear brakes a second coat as well.   My list of stuff to do in this phase of the build is getting smaller each week.

Today I dropped off the radius arms to get the pins installed.   Hopefully they will be done within a week.

Both types of carb look good, especially with those unusual filters. Will the Solex fit without having to cut the bulkhead?

It will fit. The manifold is only about 4" in length.

Got a little package in the mail on Friday.   Brake bits and pieces that I needed.   Postage was pretty quick.   I haven't used Minisport for quite a few years.

My question is can I reassemble the backing plates and associated brake components while I wait for my radius arms to come back or is it better to wait and put them together at once?

Over the weekend I managed to reassemble my rear brakes with a little help from youtube.   I think that they are assembled correctly.

Going to collect my radius arms this afternoon so hopefully I they can be put together on friday.

Progress has been very slow even for my standard lately on the mini.   But I recently bought this long term project.

When I went to collect the mini van, once it got moved it just collapsed like wet cardboard box. Luckily the lady was kind enough to give me a refund. At least now I have an extra $500 now to spend on my saloon.
