Hi Everyone,

This week I carried on with the L/H door (or doors since I actually built two). My mate had generously painted the inside of the frame and door skin for me so that the rust prevention was complete when I came in the workshop. So, I started with applying some sound deadening.

before preparing frame and skin for welding and folding action

Tried on and plug welded

Folded and fully welded

And all ground and finished

On the body for appreciation ;-)

With the door done I was confident to finally cut back the A-panel and prepare with rust converter

And that was it for this week ..

Hi Everyone,

Not much progress since my last update.

The week before last week I spend another day in the workshop mainly disassembling the remaining parts on the body shell. I should probably done that from the very start but then I never intended to get that deep into the bodywork ..

With the dampers on the front out of the way I finally disassembled the damper mounts only to find the usual horror beneath.

Which cleaned up like this

And that's where I left actually looking forward to repairing this relatively straight forward section.

But live had other plans and I was tested positive on SARS-Cov-2 and am in isolation since.

Hi Everyone,

With the isolation done I have spend some more time in the workshop.

Firstly I build a transport frame which I will use when the body goes to the paint shop. The frame is based on a sturdy metal frame with rollers which I bought cheaply and that I have added wodden beams and clamps to:

Next I carried on with the repair sections behind the front shock absorber mounts which meant cleaning the right hand side:

Before making the repair sections from sheet steel:

The repair sections are hold in by hope only until the welding gas bottle has been refilled :shy: .

And that was that for this week. Due to change in jobs the progress will slow down in the near future unfortunately. But than, I will work for a company that does laser welding and cutting machines which will open up some very interesting opportunities :D .

Have a look into my engine and gearbox project thread in case you want to know how I spend my isolation at home.

Cheers fro the Pied Piper's Town

Hi Everyone,

It's been 16 month since my last post :shy: ! Time that I needed to settle into my new job.

But since June I have spend some tiime in the workshop again and finally got around to finishing the welding :D .

It startet withe the damper mounts, where I left with the repsir panels made and ready for welding.

Next I finally got the chance to use my newly accured spot welder (for the last of the spot welds of the restauration) when welding in the L/H A-panel

And then yesterday the last two little repair areas. First the roof rail

And then a patch below the R/H head lamp

And that was it. Sure it didn't all went all as I hoped for but that it's all done by myself.

Next on the agenda is the preparation of the underside before all the last preparation before the body can be send out to the paintshop.
