Updating Points Distributor On M.e.d 1380

I’m slowly getting around to piecing together my very old MED 1380 engine for a rebuild.
In my Clubman at the mo is an MG Metro 1275 engine with electronic ignition, nothing fancy, just bog standard Metro dizzy.
On the 1380 it’s an old dizzy with points. What is a good upgrade for this that won’t cost a fortune?
Coil pack with no dizzy? Electronic ignition with dizzy but no points?
(I’ll be running a Weber carb, no injection or ecu’s etc)
All suggestions and advice welcome ??

The standard metro electronic dizzy with the advance curve suitably modified for the 1380 engine.

if the dizzy has been set up with the right springs and advance for the build i would only change it to a pointless set up.
otherwise you will need to be spending quite a bit of money.

The dizzy I have is the one that came with the engine from MED in 1991, I’ve had it in storage for years. Can that dizzy be converted to pointless? Cheers

should be easy. if MED supplied it then i would ask them to convert it and maybe adjust the curve for modern fuel if needed.

You can, it would actually be easier to recurve and rebush a 65D type as it's already electronic and usually more reliable than the kits
