Weird Brake Light Issue...

...I say weird, it's probably obvious to those electrically-minded... but my brake lights stopped working the other day. But they do work when an indicator is engaged...

When full lights are on the rear reds work too.

Brake pedal switch seems fine with no corrosion (and, as I said, works fine when indicators are on).

Any thoughts on a quick fix before I take it to someone who does know electrics?

strange electrical behaviour is often a sign of poor earth connections - check/clean all the connections to the rear light units and see if it makes any difference

As said almost certainly a bad earth connection somewhere.
