I'm wondering where this purple wire connects. 1988 Classic Mini.
Many thanks in advance for guidance.

I don't see where should it connected but the Purple-Black wire is for the horn.

Yes it's the horn. There should be a bullet type thing on the end which goes deep into a recess down between the blue/red and blue/white.

CAREFUL!

Won't be combined with the black .. that purple wire will be separate behind the black .. black is the switch earth wire.

Ah good point, the connector is so deep it seemed joined to me. Couldn't easily pull it out either.

I'm pretty sure that wire goes up inside the Indicator Stalk all the way up to the Horn Switch.

You've got:

Solid blue - supplies centre headlight contact

Blue / red is to dip beam

Blue / white is main beam & has the solid purple (permanent live) on the other side. That gives flashed full beam with not lights or dipped beam on.

There's a supply wire (that solid black?) from the solid purple up the tube of the indicator stalk for the horn push, The stalk itself is the conductor from the push switch to the horn.  If you don't fancy trying to reattach the broken wire where it can from I reckon you could do so directly to the stalk.

Solid black is earth.

IIRC it is braided at the end and is wedged between the stalk and the switch unit when the arm is pushed into place (splined end).

Power goes to the horn from the battery/fuse box (purple) and back up to the horn push (purble/black) where it makes a circuit with the earth wire when depressed.
