Do you have a photo of the area of the block with marking? And a photo of the complete front and back?

ka pai. Here's the marking and an overall engine shot - it's still in the car so hard to get a good photo of front / back.

A29M6 is the date code of the block casting not a part number. Judging by the cylinder head it looks to be a small bore unit - probably a 998.

It has rear cam chest covers, so initially and from this it can be an 848, 997, 998, 970, 1071, 1098 or 1275.
oHowever, it is not an 'S' block because it only has 9 head studs, so,as Nick says, that makes it 848, 997, 998 or 1098.
To find out which, measure the stroke from BDC to TDC using a pencil down a plug hole.
