Hi, I'm from Sri Lanka and it is very expensive to source a new OEM replacement radiator electric fan from here. Is there any other matching substitute fan from another car that can be used on a SPI?

I'm sure any pull fan of suitable diameter could work. The same one appears to be on the Rover 100, but I doubt that helps much.

Could replacing just the motor be an option?

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. I have to replace the fan because one of the blades is broken.

I was told the same by a local mechanic, that I can use a similar pull fan of the same size but that the rpm could be different. Since it's very warm here throughout the year, I want to find out if anyone has experience using a fan from another car with the same specifications to avoid fans with low rpm.

Speed won't mean that much as the blades will be designed accordingly. The power of the motor will be a better indication.

Ebay for a 12 inch universal fan.

Bypassing the temperature switch in the radiator for a manual switch on the dashboard.

I use a 12 in universal fan. You should be able to get it at your local auto parts supplier. They should be pretty cheap. Just make sure you fit it so that it sucks air from the radiator side, and blow it out.

Most universal fans will be configured to blow air towards the flat side, so you will usually need to flip the fan round and connect it in reverse polarity.
