I was stupid enough to not check the brake light switch before lift-in the engine : of course it's not working.

Short-circuited the terminals at the switch the lamp lights-up.

Is it possible that an air bubble in the switch causes this ?

I have heard of this happening, Just needs the switch loosening enough to see a dribble of fluid.

That is what I thought also  :proud: Thanks, I'll take a chance

I didn't want to "ruin" the look of the single speedo so I've placed the coolant and oil gauge under the shelf.

Could I buy longer hose for the oil gauge ? Maybe it would be nicer at the driver side (?)

A little cheat : I exchanged the cover of the new radiator with the old one  ;D

The new core had leaks but I repaired all of them with soldering.

Interesting experience : I've bought a heritage rear subframe for Lilly. I thought it is a good idea to get a pair of adjustable radius arm brackets to compensate any mis-aligment

With the string method I spent a week to measure and adjust the rear toe-in which was 10mm's (!) with the adjustable brackets at the rearmost position.

Then I dig out the original fixed brackets : the toe-in became ~1,5-2 mm

Do they measure / adjust the subframes at BMH or is it a accidental ?

I wonder if you were/are measuring it wrong. Sounds like you may have done it wrong and the done it correctly without realising?

The strings must be parallel to each other, NOT equal distances from the wheels.

I do believe I measured it correctly. Yes the springs were parallel to each other (150 cm front and rear) Then I adjusted  it to the same distance at front left/right and rear left/right.

Now the wheels look so much better for the eyes also  :D

I really love those hubcaps

I don't know why you would have 10mm toe in with the brackets all the way backwards.

Anyway, from my experience the fixed brackets are fine. There are numerous claims of minis having poor rear alignment from the factory but I have never found this to be the case.

If I remember correctly, the middle position on the brackets is supposed to be very close to the "standard" toe alignment.
