For your purposes ed the £10 fibreglass kit from halfords will be the best value.

popped in the workshop after work, for a couple of minutes and couldn't resist finishing off the petrol filler hole removal
looks like it was never there, or rather- it will do once painted, so on to the next job.

One down quite a few to go
- Fill petrol hole, sand rear half of roof interior and paint the lot.
- bolt cage back in.
- make a dash bar that also steadies the steering coloumn.
- strip back grp and restore all metal in front half of interior, then recover in grp (as i did with rear half).
- remove non ltd slip diff and exchange it for semi- race gripper diff and drive shafts.
- fit hoses (waiting for correct 25mm ones from Z's)
- refit tank
- fit dash and console and fix bloody great holes I put in it!
- fit exhaust manifold
- make a steady structure for rear end (body work wobbles a bit) and hang back box off it too.
- fit throttle position sensor.
- modify pedal and fit throttle cable
- fit gear cable.
- finish fitting brake hoses and rear fit clutch cable then bleed em.
- fit (and buy, come to think of it) sump baffle, change filter and fill put new oil in.
- make and fit bottom half side pieces of bulk head and then fit the whole thing.
- fit expansion tank
- make rear number plate bracket and light.
- fit battery cut off and wire instrument panel and rear lights.
- and final note to self...don't look at this list again as it's depressing. LOL.

Well the cage is bolted back in place at last...
...and I've got the necessary bits ready for the dash bar...
...and I've mocked it up, just need to make a bracket for the steering column to hang off

good solution to the steering column mate
gives you something solid to fix to rather than fibreglass

Yeah, it has suffered with a wobbly steering wheel for far too long now.

Z's.
Just measure it up allowing about 2mm each side for the thickness of the clamps.

Well, I have had a slight delay. I've started to attempt to weld with Argoshield because it is the cheapest option, However, The big bottle it comes in is a little top heavy and it keeps getting knocked over. Which broke the nozzle on my regulator. Anyway I bought a new nozzle and have made a welding trolley to secure the bottle to whilst still being a bit portable.
Which was also good practice as I haven't welded for a little while and only ever with no gas or just CO2. So I then, put the dash bar and clamps in and made sure it was all level.
Then I used some fire blankets I bought cheap off ebay to cover the inside of the car and spot welded the bar in place along with brackets I had made for the steering coloumn mount.
I then removed the bar and welded it up properly outside away from the car. It needs a little cleaning up but is nearly ready to be sent off for powder coat.

Tried to trial fit my dash and immediately realised that the glove box won't fit unless I cut out a massive chunk of upper and lower dash rail. Also it needed modifying so it would fit over the new dash bar (which has been sent out for powder coating). So I ripped off the glove box bin.
Cut some sections of dash out to accommodate the dash bar and have started to graft the glove box door into the apperture for the glove box. I intend evntually to have this looking flush.

I temporarily put a seat in today...
...in order to mock up where the digi dash will go, but I'll have to wait for my dash bar to come back, to get the position of the steering wheel perfect before I can fit it.
