update

tha last couple of days i have been a little distraced with the sale of my mpi, but heres a update >_<

right got the both seats inplace (although passenger seat not in pic), the drivers seat is bolted down just need to drill though the carpet so i can bolt down the passenger one. (they also need a blooming good clean as they are really dirty)

got the passenger door fitted, just need to fit seal.

got some of the wireing sorted in the engine bay, and the dash area is nice and tidy.

started to swap the 2clock dash for the 3 clock but not sure if they will just plug and play as there are a few less pins on the multiplug..

got the washer bottle placed and just need to whip up a bracket.

piccies

so with the lack of a complete engine, means i had been looking for a local engine complete or a replacement gearbox. a friend kindly offered a 1275 box as a loan. but i found a complete 1098 on ebay just outside of basingstoke. and won it for £50 with approx 55k miles.. :D

so i set about fitting it (just going to bung it in and see if it works as it is).. ive got the front hubs broken (with the wheels still on :D flip flops rule!) and swapping engine mounts from the old engine as they where new.

the engine also came with a carb and alternator! bargain! so i need to fit my lcb in order to fit the exhaust. which means the inlet will need the carb set-up for the 1014 swapping to the 1098 carb i was given, and fingers crossed the k&n will suit.

heres the engine (looks worse than it is)

only thing i need for it is a dizzy. not sure if my standard 998 one will fit, i assume they are the same.

today..

well its in and fitted! :) with alot of sweat and effort i managed to manouver the engine into place with the aid of two tyres and a deck chair ;) lol..

got the hubs fitted and driveshafts connected. and its back on all fours..

if it is the enmgine in the earlier pics then no it will not fit as this "new" is Pre A+ and the other engine is A+ so the dizzy's are different

alternator, belt and fan on, as well as the coil and the dizzy (thanks MiniMorley) is in..

most of the engine is wired up and the engine steady is fitted

couldnt fit the radiator top bracket or ultimate steady as the 1100 thermostat housing is different :techsupport: doh!

Nice.
My minis is a road going, Miglia Inspired mini as well.
Goes like one too.

As you see, instead of the miglia arches, mine are steel molded in (actually welded in but molded seems to be the word everyone uses).

tomorrow i'll put the head lights and grill on. and i need to get some more dzus fasnters for the arch to a panel bracket. i was going to cut the arch at the seam, but i think it would be very hard to get it lined up nicely, so i will make it so the whole arch comes off with the front...

:dontgetit: ^_^

love this mini, let us know how the bearings etc hold up with those spacers on. Want to do this myself. Where did you get the steering wheel from?
