...whats happening...why is bean so -------> :D EDIT: Bean is just being silly, in Mini Mad Me's thread, she was spamming, and I said, i hope my thread was safe. but it isn't, nobody's is

by the way it'll be a week until i can work on the motor again...but I have a question for all you anoraks out there.

My mini is a 1972 Mk3 Austin Mini 1000. It has a steering column ignition, yet I've seen other minis of this age, with centre panel mounted ignition, and mine also has the hole in the middle, presumably for that. My switch panel also consists, of , left to right, Choke, Flip switch (not later button switch) hole, flip switch, then heater cable. So, has my car been converted, or is this some weird Canadian thing? Also the cowl is one piece molded plastic, looks pretty factory, but the barrel is almost on top of the coloumn, not right in the side........thanks!

your car is the way it should be...... that hole in the middle of the switch panel will be for the "air pressure" hand operated washer fluid pump its really a stupid thing but its funny to use... as for your column cowl yeah thats the way they are supposed to be.... my car is 73 so identical to yours really.....

:)

Nobody is safe from Ze Bean!!!!!

by the way, mine is a '71, has the centre switches and ignition barrel, has no steering lock or any signs of there ever being one. My 'windsheild' washer button is to the left of my steering column, mounted on the dash rail. Dunno if that helps?

it actually makes it more confusing. but it's a Canadian Mini so who know's what they changed, and al explained it nicely. thanks! Oh, so Al, your saying that I stick my hand in there and pull and push to pump the washer fluid?Only in a mini...

its lookin great! i wish i worked that hard on it when i was 13, THEN id be out driving in now :w00t:, BUT whatever, soon SOON!, anyways looks like you got an excellent deal, especially for here in Canada. people for some reason think that minis are worth zillions of dollars here and try to sell them for that. but your minis looking great!

OH and as for more differences between Canadian minis and British ones, apparently they didn't have side impact beams in the doors in the 70's and thats why our doors weigh about 6 million pounds...and i agree the side indicators are ugly as sin.

:w00t: thank you.
i do have tons of help from my boss/friend Ken, couldn't do it without him, he's taught me so much about engines, and how to put them togther, not to mention supplying parts and showing me how to do everything properly.

thanks everybody, but I must credit alot of my success to my boss/mentor/friend Ken, who's led me through every step, and helped me when my brain is totally confused. He also supplied many parts, as well as then engine, for my to buy.
thanks again for the compliments

Right, well, I went in today, and to put it briefly, I just bolted on a couple things in an hour. water pump on, cam follower plates on, mechanical fuel pump blanker plate on, and so is the oil filter base. these pics are of the water pump, and oil filter base.
