Just been in today, forgot my camera, but nothing much really happened. I cleaned more parts, blasted them to get ready for some paint, and now I'm going to read over my manual as I'm rebuilding the engine next week (with help of course). Also I took off mk2 boot (mk1 really) will include a pic asap. not too bad imo.

today i just worked for the 5 hours (to make some money), but i also found out that the engine will now probably cost nearer to 3000 CDN (around 1500 pounds) rather than the 2000-2500 i originally expected. So it's a pretty costly thing, but it is pretty high spec, with new components, and Ken's valuable time. I only have 1800 saved right now though...so i have some work to do...well comments well recieved, any pics people want, maybe of the car?

well next weekend I'm staying till 5 (from 9) to spend all day building the engine. The cam should be in to allow this, fingers crossed. It will be almost totally completed that day, ready for me to paint up. Not much going on with the car as I can't do anything with the brakes and suspension, as it needs to roll into the shop, and I'm afraid it'll break if I do anything on it. Will get some more pics of the car in general, maybe get off my arse and clean up the engine bay. also I need to bend the grille back into shape, and maybe get it rechromed/painted with "almost chrome" as it's quite shabby right now. I have the tailights ready, went over the chrome with steel wool, and will maybe re-dye the steering wheel. Will take pics of the car and the parts. Parts needed *eventually*

-Gearknob
-new carpet, headlining
-seats
-exhaust
-probably new wheels
-bodywork
-paint
-grille surround
-fill the gaping hole in the engine bay....

well pics coming soon!

Well here's the Mk2 Boot I pulled off a mini out back, I need to get a plate lamp though, it has a big dent and some rust, but should shape up nicely. Also there's pics of my heater I'm putting back together, and the inside of the grille. Oh and the boot is a cooper double skinned, I do believe. Yay.

Went in today, did three hours of work in the morning and then did my own engine work for 4 hours in the afternoon. I started off with the crank bearings, cleaning then lubricating and snapping them in place, the cam was already in. Then I put in the crank, all clearences checked out, so I torqued it up. cleaned and lubed the rods and bearing then did the pistons. They were a learning experience. First I look out the pins, had to heat them up, then lube them, put in the circlips (and absolute female doggy) then the rods. Then I put in Hastings piston rings, instead as the ones that come with it. Then I torqued everything together and went home. It took a while but I made sure everything was just right, clean and precise. I want a good engine lol. Here's some pics.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

it will, but i have to make a bracket for the numberplate light, to angle it out, or else it won't fit. They don't reproduce them either because it was only for Canadians, so I have make it up...but yeah i'm really excited about the engine build.
