As far as I'm aware, still waiting for the manual, the only thing which would stop a mini going through the SVA is the steering column as it needs to be collapsable, which could technically compromise the 'authenticity' of the steering assembly, cor, talk about catch 22..
I don't know if this is right though. Surely it is based upon the original type approval for the vehicle that is going to be SVA tested? So if the original spec didn't have a collapsible column, why should it have to when it's being SVA'd?

you changed the engine and gearbox, a few months later the rear subframe, another few months the steering rack, then the brakes get changes and uprated.... all the time using reconditioned or secondhand parts, then under the points system is this not also a breach of the system??? in which case next month when i change my rear subframe i'm F$%ked.

That is the grey area really. I really don't know the correct answer to it either.

however i been reading and overtimes got confused but generally it is a very sensitive area. no one should report anyone without first warning the offendee in question as they may not know what they may be doing is wrong in the first place. then maybe if they dont listen or chose to ignore you i think take it up with the forum mods and then let it be them to report and you follow up seeing as its TMF that will get a bad name if lots of people are know for selling identities on here.
just me 2 cents

This is generally fine as you are replacing the items with standard replacements. Things like the Z-Cars conversions are changing those items to non-standard parts.but if.....

Ringing lots of people did this for the usa market and also in the uk for tax exempt id's so you did not need to by road tax.
Problems As i see
I have seen my fair share of rung cars and some are ding dong and some are because of situatuations with shells that are nackered etc.
If someone puts an old id on a newer car to make it tax exempt or shippable to the states then boff should be scrapped simple i mean lots of people forget to remove the scuttle chassis number and markings on the screen, I had a car come into work that was a 84 mayfair that was a 95 mayfair with a 1275 and the girl did not know and someone had not done the chasis number, she was shocked with the comment i was going to phone the police.
If you have a rare car is rotten where do u draw the line to where you get a better shell and rebuild that.
I think its a area thay is a little grey but when a care that was in miniworld a few yrs ago was reported by me for being a ringer they basically did nothing and he had left the chasis number from the mini 30 on the scuttle.
However the sale of v5 documentation I have more of an issue with and think this should be well not a forum thing in either wanted or forsale.
sesitive subject and i think comman sense should be applied.

The vehicle must score eight or more points to retain the original registration mark. If less than eight points are scored or a second-hand or modified chassis or altered monocoque bodyshell is used, an enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA), single vehicle approval (SVA) or motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) certificate will be required to register the vehicle. A 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated.
Scoring components
The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
......
Blah blah blah.
Is that really how Z cars justify their cars as being above board? Do they not mention anything when you ask them about the points scheme being scrapped 5 years ago and replaced by the current law? It's very very different to the points scheme, which no longer exists at all.

The steering column issue has also been discussed several times regarding the sva test. If you are sva'ing your mini to get an age related plate or q plate then you can use a standard mini column with a standard mini steering wheel. If you are registering a complete new build to get a current registration plate then a mini column without modifications will not pass(unless you are using the complete air bag system and have proof that this all works). The modifications are easy to do and do not necessarily have to include a collapsible section.
Lets not start detracting from what this thread is about. The sale of v5's which is mostly done to obtain tax free status. This is illegal and should be banned from being sold on this site.
