no, can tell u know very little abot painting and just think because u didnt get a run u know how to spray, patchy paint is uneven spraying,
why dont u go ahead and wax those panels before u put on the lagour
And there was me thinking the mini community was a nice friendly one.
And what exactly is lagour anyway?
sorry laquer, and there was me thinking the mini community actually had a brain
Chicky mate... have been watching your progress, and you know what, your doing the right thing matey.. your learning..
Legend, no need to shoot him down in flames, if he was a pro painter, he would not be on here asking questions and sharing his experience would he ??
That is the point of a forum.. to spread knowledge and experiences..!!
Legend, why not correct him if you think he is going to make a mistake ? Instead of waiting to say "I told you so".
Come on guys...!

Anyway! Cars almost done! I've completely lost track of how much ive spent on cans, im guessing about 50 but i've been buying them whenever i've got spare cash, so it could mount to a lot more.
So yeah, all of the car has a final coat on it now, only part left to do is the front panel where the headlights etc are. It's been raining a lot recently so i've been concentrating on making my interior look nice (another bloody hard job!) but im hoping for a dry chance to get at least one coat on the front.
Oh, and i tried tcut'ing the boot door. Bloody good finish that gives! Turned the thing into a freaking mirror! I'm probably going to be doing the same to the rest of the area's i've sprayed today.
will have pictures up very soon i hope!

Ive used a plastic dash cutout with holes cut and then covered in brown leather and then sprayed gloss black.
Ripped apart a 10 leather foot rest from woolworths!

I think you're doing an awesome job
Dunno why people find the need to preach when the whole point in you starting this thread was to ask advice. Isn't that the whole point in a forum - to get advice from other people? - It's great that you've taken it upon yourself to do this
Keep it up

A little advice matey..
Let the paint settle for a week or so before T cutting / Polishing..
The solvents inthe paint continue to evapourate for weeks after painting.
This means that the paint will sink a little, also waxing the paint seals it
so alot of the solvents get trapped in there..
other than that... GET SOME PICTURES UP DAMN IT...!!!

I left it about 10 days before tcut so it should all be well.
Pictures you say?
I'm happy with it
Just need some new wheels, any offers?

Chick.... you should be very happy.
I think the wheels actually suit it mate... my not get some 5mm spacers or something just to make them stick out a tiny bit and it'd look beautiful.

here is one i did
Used rattle cans for priming, paint and laquer..
the finish you see here is straight from the can no polish
This was a challenge by a couple of friends (you can see them in the reflection) to see if
I can paint with cans as well as proper gear. The results are below.. It actually turned out
to have more of a shine that the other panels.. and that was before a polish up.
So yes, it is possible to get a finish of good quality with rattle cans..
6 light layers of metalic British racing green (To ensure no patches)
and 6 coats of laquer.. in total it was 4 cans of green £3 each and 3 laquer £3 each..
Door and A panel painted for £30 inc primer.. and that included blending paint into the rear quarter.
Why so many coats ?... because with a can the paint goes on thin.

And is it just a matter of adding some spaces on the bolts that the wheels bolt on, to widen them? That's ace, i want them really wide
