I bought my Mini back off the insurance, after the accident. That was a 'write off' too.

RaZ - If possible, when its sent to the scrappy, go to the scrappy and buy her from them??

If its been condemed to a scrappy I don't believe they'll be able to sell the whole car, just bits off it.

every1 feel lucky who was in that crash

a friend of mine crashed at the weekend and the repairs he has got 2 get his insurance 2 pay out for are £10,000 to damaged property he hit

Thats not a bad valuation. are they gonna let you buy the salvage back?

Scrapyards can't sell you a complete car due to their regs, but it does happen now and again!

i had that. unless its a class a write off then you should be able to keep the car for salvage yourself. you really have to argue with them about it but you can keep her. i unfortunately lost mine because it was on mums insurance and she sorted it out but i went in my sisters car to the breakers and "robbed" it of most of the bits. shame, i couldnt get my engine because that really screamed!
definately take the alloys off and replace them with steela as they will magically disappear before you get to see molly as will anything else that is worth something. keeping fingers crossed

A Cat A or Cat B must go to a scrap yard and can never legally be put back on the road. If the salvage yard value their business they won't sell the car as a whole back to anyone.
