Hey, I once spoke to a guy about bracing stuff. He said one thing. "In doubt, brace it...." he went on to give a few examples where he hadn't braced stuff and had to get out his hydralic goodies to move things back into shape....

And on my pickup having too much metal, I would think it would have less than a normal mini, I think they weigh less.... Mine will do for sure anyway lol. A friend of a friend has a CF front going for sale, cheap due to it has a crack in the gell coat and multipull scuffs. I'll re coat it and paint it anyhow.

Where did you get the idea for drilling the rear subframe? they weigh a ton.

How far are you thinking of going the light weight route?

Mr Benn

ps cheers for the grinder help, I have something similar..... it has about 3mm or wire left :D

Hmmm I shall dig out the card and order myself wire wheels in bulk, the one I had I can't remember where it came from.

I deleted all the photos on my thread, I've progressed since then (slap me for not taking pictures). Also the thread was old.

Do post pictures of the front subby when your done.... Seeing what you've done with the rear I may do the same route, I've seen drilled frames In an old magazine (not on a mini), didn't think about it till now
Oh well.... my stupidity strikes again....

The pickup is on a serious weight loss program, Im gutting almost everything. The tail gate was going to go, but I will build a hard cover instead, but the tail gate will be made in a compisite material, carbon fibre is looking out of it, need to be vacum bagged which I doubt I can do at home in addtion to keeping it at a high tempreture for the curing time. Its the old Fibreglass or Im looking at Kevlar.... bullet proof anyone? lol

Have you thought about changing the roof skin to save weight? well there are a lot of place to cut out metal I guess :D

If your worried about odd lines showing up, worry not, make a feature of them. Look to US lowrider stuff, you want to put a line in? make it show! pinstripping baby!!!! They show their line with pride...

You have done the seamless thing, did you do it or was it some one else? I'd like to de seam, not for look reasons, but for aero dynamic. Apparently it removes about 40 square inches from the front profile of a mini.... luck for me the pick up has only one seam to worry about....
